Janich & Klass

Janich & Klass Computertechnik was founded in 1981 as a Spin-Off from the Wuppertal University; since 1985 it is a Ltd company. In the beginning, six employees and several students who assisted by the hour worked and developed there; now J&K has about 35 fix employees. The company is now active in three areas: For industrial automation, J&K produces industry-suited computers for controlling machines. The Mixlink system that was taken over in 2005 from Agfa allows to exactly mix even smallest amounts of colour for true-colour re-lacquering of automobiles. Since 1987, J&K is active in document processing. There are three essential fields of activities: fundamental research work for image enhancement, scanner technology for scanner manufacturers, and flexible scan software with interfaces to most different DMS. DpuScan is the universal program, developed by J&K, for scanning (colour, grayscale, and bitonal, simultaneously), with indexing, image enhancements, barcode reading patchcode reading, OCR, and many more rich features. Janich & Klass and PDF/A J&K is active in document processing since 1987. Efficient scanning and storage of paper documents is the core competence of Janich & Klass Computertechnik GmbH. Already since 1998, PDF is one of several possible storage formats in DpuScan, and since 2006 also PDF/A. “With the certified PDF/A format, we finally have a standard available that allows long-term storage, even across the systems,” says Dietmar Janich, President of Janich & Klass Computertechnik GmbH.
