The AFP Consortium (AFPC) is a non-profit organization which represents 30 companies from around the world whose mission is to keep the AFP architecture standard up to date and continually improving.
Our interest in becoming a liaison member of the PDF Association is based on the fact that the AFP architecture has the ability to include PDF in object containers. As a result, many AFP users have workflows that combine PDF content within AFP documents. This allows them to use the power of PDF to create the document content and then embed these PDF pages in AFP to get the performance and management they need in high-speed print environments.
Our two organizations have a complementary mission — since we both have a responsibility to maintain and grow architectural standards for the benefit of our users.
