US agencies have released updated guidelines on digitizing books and other materials.
The US Government’s Federal Agencies Digital Guidelines Initiative (FADGI) has released its latest Technical Guidelines for Digitizing Cultural Heritage Materials: Creation of Raster Image Files.
These guidelines provide federal agencies with formal guidance on digitizing books and unbound materials.
As of the September, 2016 edition of the Guidelines, PDF/A is recognized as the preferred master file format for such digitization efforts.
FADGI’s index of acceptable file-formats has also been updated.
